The mission of the Adair County School System is to provide opportunities for academic, social and personal growth for ALL students. One of the goals to help achieve this mission is to “Provide opportunities for involving parents, the guardians and the community in meeting the physical, moral, social, emotional, aesthetic and academic needs of our students.”
Such an opportunity has been presented to us by the development and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of the HPV vaccine that prevents cervical cancer. As superintendent of the Adair County Schools, I am excited about being able to help educate our female students and their families about this major breakthrough.
Great educated minds have developed this vaccine that will give millions of young ladies the opportunity to continue with the lifelong process of learning. Who knows what future vaccines might be developed by these ladies that would not happen if their lives were to be cut short by cervical cancer.
As a school district we want to be involved by allowing one of our facilities to be used for a public forum for health officials to provide this valuable information to our students and their families. We will also be happy to distribute any appropriate information through our schools.
Please feel free to call on me to assist in any way that I can.
Sincerely,
