DR. PHIL AARON HONORED
BY HEALTH KENTUCKY
Adair County Family Physician Dr. Phil Aaron was honored Saturday night at the Louisville Hilton Seelbach Hotel by Health Kentucky.
Dr. Aaron was the recipient of the organization’s Medical Service Award. This award is given annually to individuals who make a difference in the lives of Kentuckians through personal service with respect to health care.
Health Kentucky’s vision is that all uninsured Kentuckians living in poverty have access to health care. Members of Health Kentucky arrange and promote access to health care for the poor and uninsured Kentuckians by:
•Coordinating a network of volunteer provider programs;
•Examining data and recommending improvements in health care delivery.
Dr. Aaron was the recipient of the Award of Appreciation for his long-standing support (since 1984) of the Kentucky Physicians Care Program.
“Your compassion toward helping fellow Kentuckians is commendable,” Larry Forgy, President of Health Kentucky, stated. “We hope you and your family enjoy this spectacular night of celebration.”
In accepting the Health Kentucky award, Dr. Aaron stated, to paraphrase the famous German physician Rudolph Virchow, “We doctors are also citizens; we have the opportunity to observe and perhaps a responsibility to mitigate the effects of poverty; we should be the natural advocates of the poor – we should be there for our indigent patients.”
